Stars, Volcanoes and Sea Creatures

Greetings all,
Despite the abbreviated week there were lots of things happening at Ambrose in each classroom.  From sea creatures being created in grade two to exploding volcanoes in grade four it has been a very exciting week. The Star Lab visited Ambrose this week as well.  Katherine Dwyer our district STEM coach led our fifth grade students on a tour of the skies. Thanks to WFEE.
Speaking of WFEE they will be hosting there charity auction. It is fast and fun and benefits kids. Check out all the offerings at charityauction.bid/wfee. Don’t delay, bidding ends Friday, October 26th at 10pm.

Autumn Is Here

Hello all,
October is now upon us and it is beginning to look like autumn inside our Ambrose
classrooms.Books about pumpkins and apples fill students book boxes and poems
about falling leaves adorn the walls. October also brings us Fire Safety Month.
The Winchester Fire Department will be visiting Ambrose on October 11th to teach
the students kid friendly ways to be safe in an emergency situation.

Lastly, October marks the beginning of the annual Global Read Aloud. Ambrose classrooms

are excited to be participating in this inspiring event.  For six weeks more than 1.5 million kids
across the globe will listen to a read aloud in their classrooms.  Our Kindergarten through
grade two students can’t wait to find a comfy spot and listen to their teachers read them stories
and the older students beg  their teachers to read just one more page. Reading at home
with your child is equally important and will help them in all areas of their learning at school.
It is also a great way to spend time together.  I hope you and your family have some
time this long weekend to enjoy the foliage, some football and maybe a book or two.

Best,
Mrs. Phelan :)
