Weekly Update

Hello all,
Hope you all had a great week.  This week we had our first all school meeting.  It was great to come together as a community and celebrate the start of the year.  Mr. Johnson and Mr. McConnell lead the singing and the dancing/exercising and together we worked hard on being whole body listeners. Additionally we had a visit from Stacey Bukuras our new Social-Emotional Coach!  We even did some push-ups!

I want to thank you for your patience as we navigate the new school start time and the busy drop off area. Ambrose will now open its doors at 7:55am.  This will hopefully eliminate some morning congestion.  The drop off area is going well but we still have a few mornings when cars are causing a backup on High and Church Street. Mornings can be difficult but if you could please give hugs and prepare your child’s school bag before entering the drop off area it is greatly appreciated.

To ensure the safety of all students, the playground and field are for Ambrose students only during school hours.  Families are kindly asked to use the playground after 2:30pm. Thank you.

Lastly, congratulations to Ambrose School for being one of 52 schools of recognition by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for high growth and exceeding targets on the MCAS test.  While I am proud of our students and staff, the MCAS test is only one measure of student growth and achievement! All of our students have gifts and they each shine in their own way each day!
Enjoy !

All School Meeting

Ambrose Students enjoyed our first All School Meeting today.
We sang, danced and talked about how we make a contribution to our school community each day.

Saturday, September 22, 2018

Hello all,
Despite the midweek rain, we were lucky to have some much needed sunshine for school photos. Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped to make picture day a huge success. Picture Day is one of my favorite days. The students are so proud to wear fancy clothes and show their best smiles.
Speaking of best smiles, in classrooms in September you will see many references to  being “our best self”. This helps students frame what it looks like to be a confident, respectful learner.
This week on Thursday September 27th we will have our first  All School Meeting and Spirit Day. We will talk as a community about what is looks like to be our best self in the classroom, in the hallways in the cafeteria and out on the playground. Students can chose to wear Patriots attire or red, white and blue !  Let’s hope our school spirit helps the Patriots to a victory! It will be fun to foster our school spirit and to celebrate Ambrose students all while rooting for our favorite team.

Have a wonderful weekend!

What A Fantastic Week!

Hello all,
I can now officially welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! And what a fantastic start to the school year!  I visited each classroom on the first day and was amazed to see the happiness and excitement the students had for the new school year.

This week teachers have worked hard to build relationships with each of their students and build a culture in their classrooms that will permeate throughout the year. It is our goal to get to know all of our students socially, emotionally and academically. This will help us to  build  rich learning environments and curriculums that will work for each student.

It was so nice to see and greet so many parents at the Parent Coffee on Friday.  If we have not had an opportunity to meet I will be in the front foyer of the school to welcome you during our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 13th.

Please note that for the safety of all students and to ensure our building is secure we will kindly ask you to say your goodbyes to your child at the front door before entering the building starting Monday, September 10th. Creating a routine with students and fostering their independence  will help them to begin each day ready to learn. Thank you in advance for your support.
Best,
Andrea
